Opening Agenda

       Note: At UTS, we will be joined by two TIM local liaisons, who will be part of our TIM family.

Some information to prepare and share with the group:

a.     Intro your name

b.     Where is your home and something about your country

c.     Something about your household and interests/hobbies

3.       CWM and “Mission” (Amelia)

4.       Expectations (Yours, Your Church, Our Host groups and CWM)

5.       Schedule and Behaviour – understanding time and punctuality

6.       Logistics – Intro Programme Associate - Vicki Sim

7.       Practical Tasks

a.       Passport (Take a clear photo and keep 2 hard-photocopies of your Passport page)

b.       Visas

                                   i.      Prepare your documentation (Passport, Letters from CWM, UTS) – read the letters out loud, so you are thoroughly familiar with what we are saying and how we say it!

                                  ii.      What you need to knpw:

1.       The Philippines

2.       Singapore

3.       South Africa

c.       Air Travel and surviving long-haul flights

    Hydrate - water

    Scarf/jacket/hoodie

    Socks/shoes

 

d.       Assembling your packing - You may bring

                                                               i.      1 checked bag (17kgs), which should contain a hardcopy of your passport page and itinerary and WhatsApp contact details.

                                                             ii.      1 Carry-on bag that can go in the overhead locker (7kgs), which should include your laptop/tablet and (if bringing), which should contain a hardcopy of your passport page and itinerary and WhatsApp contact details.

                                                           iii.      1 Personal Item (e.g. smaller bag), which should include your smartphone and your passport and any backup battery

                                                            iv.      Clothes

1.       Clothes for 1 week of fairly hot/humid weather. We will talk about what is suitable in the online orientation sessions

2.       Jacket for on the plane (it can get cold) and evenings/cooler days

3.       Swim-wear

4.       1 outfit for a more formal occasion / cultural wear

                                                             v.      Personal items, including any medications

 

8.       What CWM will provide

a.  Umbrella

c.   2 shirts: CWM Logo Polo shirt / TIM Logo Polo shirt

d.   Charging universal plug (with USB ports) – (bring your own cables)

e.   Mini-sewing kit and mini torch

f.    Small Travel towel

g.   Travel Laundry detergent and small laundry bag

h.   Pen/Notebook

i.     Shared First Aid Kit and household goods in your Shared Accommodation

j.   Various Resources

1st Online Meetings

April 18 - The TIMs were organized into 3 groups of 4... but two of them didn't make it! (They will need to catch up later.) The different times were to allow each group to only meet for 1 hour (about the max that works online) and get to know three of the others better. This helps to overcome shyness and nervousness. The TIMs met Amelia, watched Vicki's intro Video and introduced themselves to each other, followed by asking each other questions. We made sure everyone is familiar with the BLOG (you're on it) and knows where to find the resources for the next sessions and the draft schedule. The list for packing is also on the blog, under April 18 .
