Getting Ready for Iziko and South Africa
Setting the Context
Bringing Your Context
We ask each attendee to bring one item that represents your context, your story, your activism, or your positionality. This might be an object, image, photograph, piece of cultural cloth, cross, musical item, or something small from your daily life or community that represents the struggle or cause you are most engaged in right now.
On Day Two, you will be invited to introduce yourself and share something of your context and your quest towards liberation through this object. It does not need to be formal or polished. Simply bring something that carries meaning for you.
These objects and materials will also become part of our collective altar, accompanying and grounding our time together.
Bags / Namelessness
As part of our exploration of Nameless Country, we will invite you to paint and creatively transform your blank bag. The bag becomes a space for imagining, expressing, and aesthetically exploring the work of liberation in our world.
There are no rules about what your bag should look like. Your artwork, symbols, words, colours, and creativity are entirely your own. Let the bag become a space where you can express what liberation means to you, what you carry, what you refuse, and what kind of world you are imagining.
